Over the fall, we had the awesome opportunity to have Joel Marsh Garland sing a new song of ours called “Dear Mr. Mustache”. For those of you not familiar with Joel, he is an awesome actor who has appeared in a million tv shows and movies (ok, maybe not a million….but a lot!!). Most recently, Joel has been seen in the Netflix hit show Orange Is The New Black as the prison guard Officer Scott O’Neill and on Broadway in the revival of Of Mice and Men. Joel was the perfect choice to sing this song. His voice totally suits the character who is singing the song, a man by the name of Mr. Beard. (Yes, you read that correctly. “Dear Mr. Mustache” is about two characters named Mr. Mustache and Mr. Beard.)
This weekend, we will have the awesome opportunity to work with Joel again, as he directs the video for “Dear Mr. Mustache”. The video will be a mix of shadow puppetry and live action, starring my beautiful daughters who started the whole saga of Mr. Mustache and Mr. Beard during a fun afternoon with their uncle. Here’s a little sneak peak at one of our pre-production test photos:
I can’t wait to share this song and video with all of you!!!
We recently finished another personalized song for a baby named Eliana. Check it out!
Hi Everyone! Heather here….long time, no see!
The last few weeks of summer and the first few weeks of school have been hectic, but I think I am finally ready to get back to The Green Orbs and all of the exciting things we have going on.
First, through all of the craziness of the last few weeks of summer, we wrote a song for a little girl turning one named Eliana. Her uncle wanted to give it to her for her birthday. I love writing personalized songs for people. It is so wonderfully fulfilling, knowing that we have hopefully created something that the recipient will treasure for their whole life.
Of course, our app “The Hams in the Deep Blue Sea” continues to be available on iTunes. We are hoping to have more reviews to post in the coming weeks and months.
We have an upcoming recording session that I am very excited about! In a past post, I mentioned that we were working on a song that got its start as a little ditty that Eddie had written along with my daughters. We have reworked that song and created what I think is an epic tale….and we have found someone to sing it who has an epic voice to go along with it! We had a rehearsal in NYC last month with this person, and Eddie and I could not stop smiling and laughing because it just sounded so great!! I can’t wait to be able to share this song when it is finished…and to hopefully produce a video to go along with it! Stay tuned for more details!
We have many other projects in vary stages of development and many ideas for new projects…..it is hard to find the time to work on all of them! We would like to create a monthly Orb Newsletter to keep all of our fans informed of our current projects. If you are interested, please add your email on the “Contact Us” page.
Take a listen to “The Hams In The Deep Blue Sea”!

I JUST PICKED UP MY HAMS IN THE DEEP BLUE SEA ON iTUNES!
Hi everybody – Larry Daley here… I’m so excited to see that Hams in the Deep Blue Sea is finally out! I always have a blast illustrating whatever The Green Orbs have up their sleeves and HAMS is too good to miss.
As a children’s Illustrator, one of the things you always hope for in reading a script is the possibility to invent something new. If there’s even one new character I can introduce in a story, I’m usually thrilled. But The Green Orbs go all out in their stories, introducing a paint bucket of inventive characters, spectacular destinations and a pure playfulness that makes it difficult not to want to create a dozen versions of the same adventure. I love the ocean and to draw fish is wonderful – but to draw swimming pigs mingling with Moo-maids, a Tallrus and Eelephants dancing to a bubbly tune – well, that’s just cool:)
Here’s a shot of Mr. Baaaass belting out an underwater tune (from line drawing to finished color)

Hi Everyone!! Heather here 🙂
We wanted to take a second to introduce you to a great Kindie band….The WhirlyGigs! Led by Mr. Whirly, the WhirlyGigs’s music is so much fun…kids (and parents!) will LOVE it! Aside from their music, I love the fact that The WhirlyGigs got their start after Mr. Whirly’s daughter was born and he started creating music with and for her….much like my own experience of coming up with song ideas after years of telling my girls made-up stories and singing crazy made-up songs.
Currently, The WhirlyGigs are in the final hours of their Kickstarter campaign to raise money to finish with the production and promotion of their first full-length album. They only need about $600 for their campaign to be fully funded…..and I thought that maybe some of The Green Orbs fans could help them reach their goal! If you donate at least $5, Mr. Whirly has some great pledge prizes.
If you can help, please click the link below….you won’t be disappointed!!
